Buy the evening, not eight separate things

Nobody wants a mattress, a fan, a rug and a set of lights. They want to sleep well, stay cool, and have somewhere decent to make coffee in the morning. So we sell it that way.

Why we bothered

Glamping is not a different hobby

It is the same night outdoors with two or three things fixed that usually ruin it. The ground. The heat. Having nowhere to get clean. Fix those and a lot of people who say they hate camping discover they only hated sleeping on a quarter-inch of foam.

The numbers back that up: glamping made up 29% of North American camping experiences in 2025, and 31% of first-time campers chose glamping accommodation for their first trip, according to KOA's 2026 Camping & Outdoor Hospitality Report (n=4,088; US margin of error ±1.82%). For a store whose secondary audience is people who have never camped and own nothing, that is not a niche.

What follows is seven setups. Each one solves a specific problem. Where we do not stock a piece yet, it says so on the card rather than substituting something that does not do the job — and you can tell us which one to finish first.

Seven setups

Pick the problem, not the product

Every piece we stock is ticked by default — untick anything you already own. Adding a setup adds the ticked items to your cart at their normal price; there is no bundle markup and, for now, no bundle discount either.

Sleep Like Home

The single reason most people say they do not enjoy camping. Fix the bed and you fix the trip.

What we stock for it

What we do not stock yet

  • A fitted sheet cut for a camp mattress
  • A packable comforter or duvet for people who hate sleeping bags

Two singles side by side beat one double for most couples — different weights, different turning, no shared movement.

Stay Cool

A tent in July stops being a shelter and becomes a greenhouse. Moving air fixes it faster than anything else you can carry.

What we do not stock yet

  • A blackout tent liner — the thing that actually stops a 6am tent from cooking
  • A proper cooling blanket
  • A power station large enough to run a fan all night without thinking about it

A fan moves air, it does not cool it. If the overnight low is 85°F, no fan is going to save that night — pick a site with elevation or shade instead.

The Glamping Bathroom

Most trips end a night early for one of two reasons: nobody slept, or nobody could get clean.

What we do not stock yet

  • A privacy tent — the piece this setup genuinely needs
  • A hanging mirror
  • A toiletry organiser that hangs rather than sits in the dirt
  • A drying rack

Keep soap, even biodegradable soap, at least 200 feet from any lake, stream or spring, and scatter the water. Some sites prohibit greywater on the ground entirely — check before you rinse.

The Romantic Campsite

Turning a numbered gravel rectangle into somewhere you actually want to sit after dark.

What we stock for it

What we do not stock yet

  • A two-seat camp loveseat
  • Unbreakable stemware and a proper table setting

The Camp Coffee Bar

The first twenty minutes of a camping morning decide how the rest of the day goes.

What we stock for it

What we do not stock yet

  • A pour-over or press brewer built for camp
  • A dedicated kettle with a pouring spout
  • A hand grinder

A burn ban does not stop a canister stove in most jurisdictions, but it does stop a fire. Check the park's current fire restrictions rather than the season.

Outdoor Movie Night

The setup that turns a rained-off afternoon or a long evening with kids into the best part of the trip.

What we do not stock yet

  • A portable projector
  • A screen that packs down and does not flap
  • A speaker worth listening to outdoors
  • A power station — this is the one that decides the setup

Being straight about the power: a 20,000mAh bank will not run a projector through a feature film. This setup needs a real power station, and until we stock one we would rather say so than sell you a bank that dies in act two.

The Luxury Camp Kitchen

Cooking properly outdoors instead of reheating something over a stove balanced on a rock.

What we stock for it

What we do not stock yet

  • A flat-top griddle
  • A cooler that holds ice for more than a weekend
  • A wash station

Each of these pieces ships from its own supplier, which means a five-piece setup can arrive as five separate parcels over several days. We would rather tell you that here than have you wonder where the rest of it is.

The one that matters most

We spent a year saying the pad matters more than the bag, and did not sell one

Every guide on this site says the same thing. A sleeping bag holds the warmth you make; the pad is what stops the ground taking it away. It is the most-repeated piece of advice we give, and until now it pointed at a hole in our own catalogue.

The category has moved. In REI's 2026 member-tester review of camping sleeping pads, the REI Co-op Westward Dreamer self-inflating bed took Editors' Choice at 95/100, listed as best for “glampers, extra comfort, cold conditions”, with the Exped MegaMat close behind at 94/100 for “rugged terrain, side sleepers, comfort-conscious campers”. Worth noting that the Westward is REI's own house brand winning REI's own test — the MegaMat also holds a Top Pick at OutdoorGearLab, which is the more independent signal. Either way, thick self-inflating beds are now a real category rather than a novelty.

The ClarionRest is our entry into it: four inches, self-inflating, single, for car camping and cabin floors. We publish the thickness and the size because those define the product. We do not publish R-values or test numbers we have not run.

Where to use it

Glamping starts with the booking

The finder and this page are two halves of the same trip.

Book the cabin

Roughly a third of the parks in our campsite finder rent a cabin, yurt or lodge room. Filter by Cabin or yurt and the shelter question disappears entirely.

Then fix the evening

A cabin gives you a bed and a roof. It does not give you light to sit under, somewhere to put a coffee, or a rug at the door. That is the half these setups cover.

Or upgrade the tent

If you are staying in the tent, start with the mattress and the fan. Those two change more nights than everything else on this page put together.

Find somewhere to put all this

169 curated destinations and the official reservation portal for every state — filtered to the places with a cabin or a yurt, if the tent is the sticking point.

  1. Filter by cabin or yurt. See only the places you can book a roof, in any state.
  2. Book it on the official portal. We hand you straight to the state or federal system. No fee, no account with us.
  3. Bring the evening with you. The packing plan knows what that site is like, and links back to these setups.

Cabins and yurts by state

Cabin and yurt availability changes year to year. The official portal is always the source of truth.

We would rather stock four things people asked for than twenty nobody wanted. Pick the gap that is stopping you and we will work in that order.
